SetToBuild, also known as Jonny, has been part of the AFOL community for almost 20 years. While his oldest interactions with the AFOL community have been online, his involvement became more serious when he started attending meetings for his local RLUG in Sacramento, California, in 2011. After some time, the Sacramento Brick Builders found themselves in a transition of leadership. SetToBuild was elected as their President and served as a LEGO Ambassador for over a year.
After graduating from college and while rediscovering hobbies, SetToBuild explored streaming on Twitch. Before starting his LEGO building channel in 2016, he briefly streamed Minecraft on another account. Initially, he exclusively built LEGO sets on stream, but with encouragement from his community and a lot of practice, he started exploring MOC building on stream.
To practice building with prompts, SetToBuild created custom minifigure portraits for anyone who followed the channel. There were a few questions asked of the viewer, like their favourite LEGO theme and colour. This project went from 2016 to 2020 and culminated in over 700 figures!
In 2023, SetToBuild called the United Kingdom his new home. He lives there with his partner, CrankyBricks, and their cat. His professional background is in Graphic Design with a focus on editorial design.
